Former DOKKEN Bassist Comments On GREAT WHITE Concert Tragedy
March 3, 2003Former DOKKEN and current L/P bassist/vocalist Jeff Pilson has addressed the recent GREAT WHITE concert tragedy in his latest commentary published on his official web site, www.jeffpilson.com.
"I want to express my condolences and heartfelt prayers for the victims and families of the Rhode Island tragedy," Pilson wrote. "I can't even imagine loss on that scale and I can only hope something good comes out of all this. I also want to offer special prayers for the guys in GREAT WHITE. Not only have they lost a great guitarist, friend, and band member, but to have the weight of all this hanging on them — it must be nearly impossible to bear. It sounds like a lot of info is coming out to make the club owners appear to be more at fault than previously thought. It does no good to point fingers in cases such as this, except that maybe there is negligence that needs to be accounted for, and as a friend I hope the band doesn't get unfairly burdened. It's such an immense tragedy all around, I hope it comes to some good. But I hope that good means safer shows, not less shows or making rock bands scapegoats. Everyone must, however, acknowledge that being aware is a key safety ingredient and without a doubt one or more persons were asleep at the wheel."
